SKIN | The new year is all about choice

from Les Nouvelles Esthétiques

Regardless of the service, clients want choices. They want to be able to choose according to how they feel, the environment, from what they've heard and most of all, for their skin conditions. Savvy spa owners have seen the future and it's all about customized treatment. Several spas have created new features to allow their guests the freedom of choosing customized care.

At Le Bon Visage, Chicago's newest skin care spa, the focus isn't on glamour, it's on empowering individuals to look and feel their best every day. The skin care spa is devoted to serving individuals to look and feel their best every day. The skin care spa is devoted to serving individuals with skin disorders such as vitiligo and rosacea, as well as those who are suffering from skin irregularities due to trauma.

"I established Le Bon Visage after realizing that many dermatology, oncology and reconstructive surgery practices lack the space or the funds to offer esthetics services to their patients," explains Liz Quesnelle, a licensed esthetician, corrective makeup artist and owner of Le Bon Visage. "Here we can help them find the treatments they want and require."

Also featuring new services, the Elemis spa in Coral Gables, FL., has a customized treatment called the Japanese Silk Booster Facial. There are three versions to choose from including the Pro Collagen, Oxygen, or Vita-C Japanese Silk Booster Facials. The facials are 75-minutes long and depending on the condition being treated, such as dehydration, free-radicals or acne, the skin completely transforms under deft fingers.

"Our mission is to embrace life as a voyage of discovery and to share this discovery with our customers," says the company. The philosophy behind Elemis is that "beauty is not just skin deep, but instead is enhanced and supported by inner health and happiness." Every Elemis spa therapy is a "journey toward self-discovery through the six senses of sight, sound, touch, taste, smell and perception."

At Brooks & Butterfield a day spa in Massachusetts, the menu recently increased to offer clients more to choose from. The spa launched its third year with new offerings designed to serve the needs of its teenage clientele. Heading the list of new services is the Teen Skin Treatment Program, which was developed in response to the growing demand among adolescents for serious skin care.

Responding to a different kind of demand, the recently launched Mama Spa, makes choosing easy for clients as this mobile prenatal spa drives to its clients' homes to deliver custom care. Massage therapist Marie Scalogna has put her 14 years of experience in the spa industry to create a unique service for pregnant women in New York City. Her clients may enjoy a treatment range from various massage offerings to gentle body scrubs and body services. Mama Spa also features a nutritionist on staff and treatments for dad including stress relief massages and general prenatal massage instruction.

Speaking of massage, Tru Spa in San Francisco recently launched its TruTherapy massage. Guests can choose a relaxing, energizing or detoxifying therapy. Each treatment includes a special massage, heat-sensitive Decleor aromatherapy balm and computer-controlled "trulight" chromatherapy program. The elements "work in tandem to maximize the desired effect of the particular therapy for an unparallel massage experience (75 or 105 minutes)."

Whether it's catering to the needs of those with skin problems like vitiligo or rosacea, launching a customized treatment, adding treatments for teens, moms and dads, or incorporating chromatherapy, the goal for the new year is the same: to offer more choices.
